“Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy.” Ephesians 5:25 NIV
I don’t often get to brag about my husband, Dave. He doesn’t care for it, mainly because he feels it’s unmerited. Maybe you can relate when you think of your husband. But I can assure you that it is. So this Father’s Day I wanted to briefly list for you all that I think is wonderful about this man who stole my heart 17 years ago.
And, Dave, if you read this, you need to remember this or refer to it often. Because it’s all true.
Dave is (in no particular order)…
A man who seeks God’s heart, wisdom, and knowledge every day,
Loving,
Kind,
Generous,
Fun (and funny!),
An awesome example for our boys,
A great swimmer and record holder for loudest cannonball jumper,
Patient,
Devoted,
Understanding,
Caring,
Amazing chicken salad, molasses cookie, and apple pie maker,
Courageous,
Strong in heart,
Fixer of everything including my bicycle,
Truthful,
Full of integrity,
Champion of Gardner Family chess and Uno matches,
Humble,
Meek,
Prolific Frisbee thrower and stunt kite flyer,
Guru of weather forecasting,
Smarter and quicker than any TV sports play-by-play commentator,
Amazing sailing teacher and captain,
Even more amazing hot air balloon pilot,
Sweet,
A comfort,
Respectful,
Great hugger (and kisser),
My very bestest friend ever!!!
Dave, I love you more and more every day. You deserve to know why this Father’s Day…and every day!
Happy Father’s Day to all dads out there plugging and away and trying so hard to lead their families and love their wives as God has called them. You do an amazing job and you deserve to know it because your family certainly does!
